Jenny Lux
Jenny started her yoga journey at age 17 while on student exchange in Argentina. For the next 17 years she practised as many people do, going to weekly classes, breathing and stretching, quietly grateful for having found something to support her health and wellbeing through university and work life as an ecologist.
Then came full-time parenthood, and the emotional challenge of dealing with two young children. Deeper inner reserves needed to be accessed, and Jenny was propelled into the yoga teaching diploma course with the International Yoga Teachers Association of New Zealand. This 18 month non-profit course was taught by some of NZ's finest yogis (of the unassuming kind) and was 90% philosophy. Jenny gained a whole new understanding of yoga and its traditional roots.
This course gave Jenny the courage and foundation to begin teaching yoga in the Rotorua community in 2013. |
Jenny completed PLAY children’s yoga training with Ashram Yoga in Auckland and taught children's yoga classes for two years (at the Arts Village and in some early childhood centres).
Since 2016 Jenny has been an organic market gardener on a small block of fertile land in Ngongotaha, with her own company 'Lux Organics'. Yoga and gardening are two of Jenny's passions - the others are being with family, cooking, reading, music, cycling, running, dance and environmental activism. She usually brings some seasonal organic veges to yoga class for students to purchase.
